THE COVER

Here It Is.

I've Been Building This World for Fifteen Years.

Fifteen years ago, I was standing inside the Palio in Siena, Italy.

Not watching from a balcony. Not behind a barrier. On the track. Surrounded by thousands of Italians from the Contrade, people whose rivalries go back centuries, feeling something so ancient and so alive it was almost too much to hold.

I didn't have words for it. So I did what I always do.

I started drawing.

I was living in Corciano, a small medieval hill town in Umbria, just outside Perugia. For two and a half months I drove through hill towns, walked through Orvieto, Rome, Florence, Siena, absorbed everything I could. I saw dovecotes carved into ancient stone walls. I stood inside pageantry that made history feel like something happening around you, not behind you. Something went into my bones that never came out.

I didn't know I was building a world. I just knew I had to capture what I was feeling.

What came out of that experience, and the fifteen years of work that followed, is Falconeria: Trials of Ash. Book One of a twelve-volume graphic novel arc.

This is the cover.

Every line is drawn by hand. The technique is a hybrid I developed myself, hand drawn screen tones on board, scanned, refined digitally, printed back onto board and touched up by hand. Old world meeting new world. Exactly like the story itself.

The Italian language runs through this world as an act of gratitude. Italy is where this story found me. But Falconeria is not an Italian story. It exists entirely on its own terms, with its own history, its own power structures, its own ancient mythology.

The Kickstarter launches Fall 2026.

If you want to be first to know when it goes live, follow the project now and Kickstarter will notify you the moment it launches.

This world is real. It has been real for fifteen years. Now it's time for it to be seen.

Robert Revels

I am Robert Revels. Artist. Storyteller. IP developer. And for 25 years, one of the most dedicated educators at Academy of Art University.

My students have gone on to work at Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel, and Crystal Dynamics. But the work I am most proud of is what I am building now — Revels Atelier, an independent studio where serious artists develop their craft, build their own original worlds, and learn to own what they create. I am also building my own. Trials of Ash is my debut graphic novel, the first book in a larger universe I have been carrying for years and am finally putting on the page.

I built this studio because I know what it costs to develop without real guidance. I paid that price in full. I am not interested in anyone else having to figure it out alone.
