DARVELL
This Is the City Where Everything Begins
When I was living in Umbria, Italy, I would drive through medieval hill towns and just stop.
Not because I planned to. Because the architecture demanded it.
Domes. Terracotta rooftops. Stone archways worn smooth by centuries of hands. Streets that felt like they had been laid down before anyone thought to record why. The feeling that history wasn't behind you, it was all around you, still breathing, still watching.
I wanted to put that feeling on a page.
Not reproduce Italy. Not copy what I saw. Capture the weight of it. The sense that a civilization stood here and believed, without question, that it would last forever.
This is page one of Falconeria: Trials of Ash.
“In the Kingdom of Darvell, even the heavens bow before the will of men.”
Darvell is a tower city built on Mediterranean architecture, on the memory of domed cathedrals and sun-worn stone and the kind of civic pride that carves its ambitions into the skyline. The screen tones you see on this page are hand drawn on board, scanned, and printed back onto the page, giving the architecture that ancient, tactile quality I was chasing. Every texture is intentional. Every shadow is placed.
This is a city that feels like it has been standing for a thousand years. It has. And it is only now beginning to crack.
