THE BUZZARD RETURNS
To Most, a Trivial Sight. To Those Who Know, Everything.
I've always believed that the most powerful moments in a story aren't the explosions.
They're the quiet signals that most people miss. The detail in the background that only means something in retrospect. The bird nobody watches. The wind that changes direction before anyone notices the storm.
One principle I keep coming back to as a storyteller, make the reader feel it before they understand it. The dread before the danger. The signal before the storm arrives.
This page is built entirely on that.
βIn the year the heavens themselves grew restless, a common buzzard returned from the wild places beyond Darvell's reach. To most, a trivial sight. Not worth a second glance. Just a bird coming home.β
But to those who keep the old teachings, to those who still read the movements of creatures the way their ancestors did, it marked something else entirely. The stirring of a prophecy thought buried beneath centuries of dust and forgetting.
This is page four of Falconeria: Trials of Ash.
βA bird. An ancient city. A prophecy waking up that was never supposed to wake again.β
The world of Falconeria is built on the idea that power has a memory. That the things civilizations bury don't disappear, they wait. And sometimes all it takes to wake them is a single common bird returning from the wild.
Falconeria: Trials of Ash is a twelve-volume graphic novel arc. Book One launches on Kickstarter Fall 2026. Drawn in ink and wash with custom hand drawn screen tones. Follow the project at the link below and be notified the moment it goes live.
